A 25-year-old factory worker, Victory Eno, who allegedly drugged and raped his female co-worker was on Monday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Victory, a resident of No. 24, Afari Ogun Street, Ikeja, Lagos is standing trial on one count charge of rape.

The accused, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi committed the offence on December 24, 2017.
Benson alleged that the accused sexually assault one Azor Chimaza Juliet.
According to the Prosecutor, Victory raped the 22-year old victim (Juliet) who works in the same factory with him after he drugged her.

“On the 24th of December, Victory drugged Juliet after he offered her cooked rice which he has drugged with Indian hemp.

“Juliet started feeling dizzy after eating the rice while Victory abused her by penetrating into her vagina,” he said.

The offence contravened Sections 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bolanle Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi said the sureties must be blood relations, gainfully employed and should also show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned till April 16, 2018 for mention.
