Two sales representatives and a security guard, who allegedly conspired to steal two flat screen television sets worth N697,000 from their employer, were on Wednesday docked in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The trio, Peace Edwin, 23; Austin Udoh, 24; and John Oloyede were brought before Magistrate T.A. Anjorin-Ajose on a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft. They, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.
The prosecutor, ASP Fidelis Dike, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 9, at about 1 p.m. at Ajah, Lagos. He said that the three accused conspired to steal a Panasonic 46 inches television and Samsung 52 inches television worth N697,000; which belonged to their employer, C&S Electro Mall Ltd.
“The first and second accused who are sales representatives at the electronics shop stole the two flat screen TVs. The security guard (third accused), who knew about the theft, let the vehicle that was hired to carry the loot in and out of the premises,” Dike said.
The offences contravened sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which carry seven years imprisonment and two years’ imprisonment respectively for offenders.
The Magistrate, Mr Anjorin-Ajose, granted the three accused persons N200,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum. He adjourned the case until Dec. 5, for trial.
