A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Minna on Friday sentenced a security guard, Abubakar Mohammed, to three years’ imprisonment for stealing a computer, refrigerator and other household items worth N960,000.

Mohammed, who pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property was arraigned alongside Abdulrahman Saleh and Mohammed Ahijo but the others pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Nasiru Muazu sentenced Muhammed without an option of fine, and ordered the other accused to be remanded.

The  Prosecutor, ASP. Daniel Ikwoche had told the court that the security guard stole the items while the other accused received the items. Ikwoche said that one Mr Suleiman Aliyu reported the case at the Bosso Station on Oct.13.

According to him, investigations revealed that the other accused jointly received the stolen property and kept them under their custody.

The case was adjourned the case until Nov. 15 for the trial of the other accused.
